“We are receiving names of institutions from Education Officers at District, City, Municipality & KCCA level to serve as COVID-19 Vaccination Centres for teaching and non-teaching staff and tertiary education students.”

The minister of education and sports Janet Museveni recently said that government is in plans to get another batch of vaccines to vaccinate teachers and students one way of ensuring schools reopening.

On Friday, during the release of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education exam results (UACE2020), minister Janet Museveni said government is priotizing vaccination for teachers and non teaching staff before schools can be reopened.

“Vaccination posts shall be extended to schools, universities and tertiary institutions. We hope this will reduce the congestion at the current centers,” minister Museveni said.

Education ministry has on Tuesday revealed registering names of schools that will work as vaccination centres, but indicated that the the list shall be transmitted to Ministry of Health for approval and designations.

Recently, minister Janet Museveni had threatened that teachers who will not heed government call to be vaccinated for COVID-19, will not be allowed to teach as schools reopen.

She added that those who plan to get fake vaccination certificates risk losing their jobs.

Most learning institutions are still closed as per the Presidential directive to curb the fast spreading corona virus in the country.
