Following the outbreak of Ebola in Uganda last month the government of Uganda together with the ministry of health have suspended visitations in schools in order to control the spread of Ebola in the country.
Last week the ministry of health confirmed that there were positive cases in some schools in Kampala Rubaga division, however the ministry stated it clear that schools will remain open until the end of the term.
“Six pupils turned positive of Ebola in different schools in Rubaga division but we shall not schools will remain open until the end of the term but we urge school administrators to follow the guidelines that we issued to them to allow the spread of Ebola,”Achen said.
Yesterday 28th October the ministry of health and the government have come out to tighten more measure IIIs on how to control Ebola in schools leading to suspension of visitations in schools.
“After confirming some positive cases in learners last week we thought it is necessary to strengthen of the measures so the ministry of education and sports has immediate effective suspended all school visitations and also in-necessary trips out of the school,”Mulindwa said.
The ministry furthermore appealed to school administrators to observe all the SOPs that have been put in place to control the spread of ebola.
