Gov’t orders ministers to go into a mandatory self-quarantine.

Latest from government has ordered all cabinet ministers GI into to self-isolation hours after ordering mandatory testing of all ministers for COVID-19.

According to Judith Nabakooba, the Minister for ICT & National Guidance, government directives comes afterafter some members of the National Task Force tested positive for COVID-1919.

Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the PRO Ministry of Health earlier yesterday revealed government plans to test all cabinet ministers. He added that samples from ministers would be collected at least every after a fortnight as a mean of ensuring their health safety.


Government directives also come at a time after 9 frontline health workers in Kampala tested positive for the virus.

In a MoH statement, the 9 cases were among the 36 new cases of COVID-19 which were tested yesterday June5th,2020.

The statement further stated that all new cases are Ugandan nnationals who have been under mandatory quarantine. These included; Nine frontline health workers fro Kampala, One contact from Buvuma, Fifteen contacts from KYOTERA, Two from Mayuge, One from Pader and Eight contacts from Yumbe district.

In addition, the ministry stressed that Eleven foreigners from earlier collected samples also tested positive. Ministry tested 648 samples from points of entry, 344 samples from contacts and alerts.

The 36 new cases bring a total number of COVID-19 cases to 593, 82 of which are recoveries. Uganda has not yet registered any death case.
