Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party in Najjanankumbi has asked their counterparts in Katonga to put their hands off the party stating that they do not have the legitimacy to dissolve FDC.
Last week, the FDC Katonga issued a notice in the Observer newspaper seeking to dissolve the party. However, John Kikonyogo, the main party at Najjanankumbi says they are the legitimate body to dissolve the party.
“It’s only the delegate conference under an elected chairman of FDC, Hon. Jack Sabiiti who can dissolve the FDC party,” said John Kikonyogo, FDC main party spokesperson.
Kikonyogo warned the leadership at Katonga who he labelled “jokers” against masquerading as FDC members for their political gains.
“This nonsense of writing things in the papers confusing people should stop! We have kept quiet enough, and we are not going to keep quiet anymore. Nobody can dissolve FDC in Uganda,” he said.
Additionally, Kikonyogo alleged that intrigue and hatred against the leadership at Najjanankumbi is killing the party and urged Katonga group led by Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago to focus on forming their own party and put their hands off the FDC.
“The Katonga group lacks the legality to dissolve FDC, and we suggest they focus on registering their new party. We welcome their decision to form a new entity, just like Hon. Betty Kamya and Gen. Muntu did before them,” he added.
