The police in Rakiga has arrested a health worker attached to Mparo HCIV in Rwamucucu sub-county for allegedly raping pregnant patient
ASP Elly Maate, Kigezi region police spokesperson says that the suspect, Darius Orikiriza is an enrolled nurse at the health facility. He is alleged to have raped Elizabeth Orishaba, 20, a resident of Maaya cell kitanga Parish Kasambya sub county Rukiga district.
It’s alleged that on 21/08/2023 at around 1300hrs, the victim who is seven months pregnant had gone for medical check up at this medical facility when she was referred to scanning department which was being operated by now the suspect” Maate said
He added a that on arrival, Orikiriza directed the victim to remove her clothes and she was forced into canal knowledge. She thereafter informed the in charge of the facility who later alerted the police for further information.
“A team of detectives was dispatched to the scene, the suspect was arrested, swabs were obtained from the victim and the suspect by the health workers from the same facility for onward submission to laboratory for Analysis. And the suspect was tested for his HIV status “ Maate. Added
