The territorial police of isingiro district is investigating the shooting of RA267313 private Bwire Laurence, a UPDF soldier by his colleague following a bitter misunderstanding over love affairs with a housemaid.
The incident according to the police spokesperson for Rwizi region ASP Samson Ksasira, occured on Tuesday 31st May,2022 at around 0200hr at Kitooha village Kahenda parish Bireere sub-county in Insingiro District.
He identified the suspect as RA267422 Private Omeri James Kamarendi, also attached to 29 Batalion.
It is alleged that the duo was guarding the Chairman LC1 of Kitooha cell Madam Generous when a bitter misunderstanding aroused prompting trigger-hungry Omeri to shoot at Bwire killing him instantly.
Preliminary reports indicate that the dou have had a long standing conflict over the maid working for their employer (LC1 Chairperson) which is suspected to have sparked off the fight.
Kasasira says that police was informed of the incident and rushed to the scene of the crime for documentation. They recovered the two ruffles and cartridges and taken them as exhibits.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
He further disclosed that the suspect after committing the stressful incident took on his heels but police have started hunting for him.
“Police is working together with the UPDF to truck down the suspect that is still in hiding.” ASP Samson Kasasira said
