Former Next Media Journalist Mordecai Muriisa has “strongly condemned” reports by some media outlets on his resignation from NBS TV job calling it a combination of biased reporting, false innuendo, and outright lies.

The remarks follow many reports falsely misquoting the journalist-turned poet saying; ‘Muriisa revealed that he will no longer work for Next Media Services’

Vyper Rides Ad

In an exclusive interview with Parrots UG, he said the statement is biased, misinform and damages both his image as a professional journalist and that of his former employer organisation.

“It’s very wrong that people who identify themselves as journalists just write whatever they think will get them numbers, they ignored my official statement and wrote what they wanted, who am I to know how tomorrow will be?” Muriisa condemned

Bad reporting is so rampant that it is often times overlooked because its almost always done on behalf of the greater good and may cause damages if not immediately fact checked.

According to a resignation letter dated March 30, 2O22, to his followers seen by Parrots UG, the renown poem reciting King said he was leaving NBS TV on a mutual agreement contrally to media reports

“I would like to inform you that today, on the 30th day of March 2022, I have officially tendered my resignation as a news anchor, reporter, and producer at NBS TV by mutual agreement. Let there be no contradictions, I enjoyed my time at NBS TV from when I was hired in March 2020 to June 2021 when I traveled to the USA”, said Murisa

Muriisa whose journalism career started crawling at 88.1 Suubi FM is also a former News Anchor at 97.7 Record FM where he resigned before joining Next Media Services as a Reporter and later a News Anchor and Producer at NBS TV.

He hailed NBS TV for enabling him hone his talent as well as developing his journalism career

“I always say “beyond the patterns of the constellation” it believed in me and always corrected me when I was wrong and so it is with a mix of gratitude and sadness that we call our professional union to an end for now”, he said

Meanwhile, Muriisa has disclosed to this reporter his next cause of action noting that he is concentrating first on his studies in the US, and also focus on growing his poetry projects.

Apparently, he (Muriisa) has rocked social media platforms such as Twitter, Tik Tok and Facebook with cynical poems about socio-economic and political activism a new move he believes is essential in society transformation.

“Currently, I’m focusing on education and poetry which cynics have called activism,. If this activism help Uganda in one way or another, I’m glad.” Muriisa told Parrots UG.
