WORLD REPORTS
CNN, a unit of Warner Bros Discovery, is preparing to lay off hundreds of employees as the company shifts its focus to a global digital audience. According to a report by CNBC, the layoffs are expected to take place today Thursday, January 23rd, 2025, and are part of a broader effort to reduce production costs and consolidate operations.

The report also indicates that some shows currently produced in New York and Washington may relocate to Atlanta, where production costs are lower.
Meanwhile, NBC News, owned by Comcast, is also planning job cuts this week, although the number is expected to be fewer than 50, according to sources.
This comes amid a wave of layoffs across major media organizations. The Washington Post recently announced it would cut about 4% of its workforce, equivalent to fewer than 100 employees, citing rising financial losses.
In November, the Associated Press revealed plans to reduce its workforce by about 8%, aiming to modernize its operations.
Attempts to get a comment from Comcast and Warner Bros Discovery were unsuccessful by press time.
