Amid reports indicating that the public have limited understanding on the Parish Development Model funds, there are voices calling on government to carryout thorough sensitization on the programme.
Sharon Arach Oyat, the spokesperson of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) urges government to involve extension workers to provide necessary technical support to beneficiaries to be grafted in PDM.
Arach was speaking to journalists at UPC headquarters, Uganda House Kampala on Wednesday.
According to her, many people at the grassroot levels do not have capacity of preparing the relevant paper work, lacks technical knowledge on elementary accounting, realistic proposals essential in the PDM programme.
Last week, the speaker of parliament Annet Anitah Among sent parliament on a two weeks recess for their oversight role on the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and promised to avail all the necessary guidelines to ensure that they monitor the progress.
Faizo Muzeeyi, the UPC head of media and communication urges that engaging more specialized extension workers will not only provide technical support to PDM beneficiaries but also eases the supervisory and oversight work of parliament.
