UPC candidate for district Woman MP slot in Dokolo by-election, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori has marked return to large scale rallies on her second day of campaigns.
Today, Aguti and her campaign team led by Party President, Hon. Jimmy Akena is campaigning in Te-Yao, Bata Town Council and Okwalongwen Sub-County. Some of the Aguti supporters were seen standing on the roadside listening to her on public address systems after the venues reached capacity.
“Everyone wants to get in there, see and listen to our candidate,” cheered huge crowds of supporters.
After Bata Town Council, the candidate talked to electorates they met on their campaign trail who lined up on the roadside ahead of the rally in Okwalongwen. Residents, many of whom include food vendors, businessmen and women filled the routes to campaign grounds and were seen waving Aguti’s campaign posters, UPC open palm symbol signifying strong support for Aguti.
The Dokolo district Woman MP seat fell vacant after the death of their former legislator, Cecilia Ogwal in January. Ogwal died of a cancer related disease in India.
The Electoral Commission set March 21, as dates for the election of the new district Woman MP and Aguti is dominating the seven-horse-race and FDC’s Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal.
Aguti whose political background is so inseparable to the people of Dokolo hopes to win solidly after many people voters including those from other political parties threw their support behind her.
The candidate is anchoring her political message on improving individual livelihoods through poverty eradication programmes as well as lobbying for better service delivery which is seemingly the district’s long time challenge is drawing massive support in Dokolo.
Campaigns for Dokolo district Woman MP will close on March 19, one day before the election date.
