Juventus are growing tired of Paul Pogba following a disciplinary breach and a fresh tweaking muscle injury.
After being dropped for Juventus’ Europa League win due to disciplinary reasons, the 29-year-old will be out for about three weeks and will miss the start of France’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.
According to Juventus manager Massimiliano Aleggri, Pogba tweaked a muscle while practicing free kicks in training.
A club statement said that Pogba underwent a medical test on Monday and that he has suffered “a low-grade tear to his right thigh adductor.”
“He has already started with the rehabilitation process aimed at resuming competitive activity,” it added.
Paul Pogba only made his first appearance of the season two weeks ago before he was dropped for disciplinary reasons.
Juventus are becoming more and more frustrated about the situation and could hold talks with the Frenchman about his future at the end of the season.
Pogba has only made two substitute appearances since rejoining Juventus from Manchester United last summer, with the first of those coming on February 28.
Pogba’s previous appearance was for Manchester United in April 2022, when he suffered a calf injury in a 4-0 defeat at Liverpool, which ruled him out for the remainder of last season.
The 2018 World Cup winner then suffered a knee injury in pre-season but initially opted not to get an operation, fearing it would rule him out of last year’s World Cup.
Despite chief football officer Francesco Calvo recently insisting it is not the case, Pogba’s Juventus future is hanging in the balance more than ever.
After nine months of his second stint at the club, he has racked up less than 45 minutes on the pitch, only making his first appearance last week, meaning he has played the fewest minutes of any outfield star this season.
He has now been sidelined for a couple of weeks due to a muscle issue, as his problems continue to pile up.
Regaining the club’s trust will be an extremely difficult task, but his relationship with Allegri appears impossible to rebuild.
