KABALE
The Kabale university faculty of Education yesterday evening donated a variety of basic needs to mothers in the paediatric ward at Kabale regional referral hospital as Easter package.
The items that include 50 bars of soap, packets of soya bean and millet flour were handed to Ms Aharizira Joan the paediatric ward incharge at Kabale regional referral hospital in Kabale district by Kabale University team led by the Senior Lecturer at Kabale University and also, the Dean Faculty of Education Dr Francis Akena Adyanga and Johnson Kahesi, chairman outreach and community engagement and also, the Assistant Lecturer in Faculty of Education.
Handing over the donation to mothers, Dr Francis Akena Adyanga quoted the book of Matthew 22:37–39 saying that when someone is in need, her needs can affect someone else. Dr Akena said they sat as faculty of Education and agreed that as part of giving back to the community, they should put a smile to the needy children actively hospitalized this Easter season regardless of their condition.
When asked if the donation is beneficial, Dr Akena said that it is like a small drop of milk in a bucket of water citing that however as part of sharing God’s love, mothers and caregivers of hospitalized children will appreciate it because there is no amount of gift that is too small.
Sister Aharizira who is the incharge pediatric ward of Kabale regional referral hospital, thanked the team from Kabale university for thinking about their patients.
Aharizira said that most of the mothers received in most cases at her ward are poor, can’t afford most of the essential needs like food, soap to wash babies clothes a thing that retards their services noting that it’s hard to treat a dirty patient as it may result in more complications other than what they came with.
