The Prime of Buganda Charles Mayiga opposed to new technical graduants for starting their own jobs before acquiring enough hands on experience.
This was during the 18ths Graduation ceremony of Buganda Royal institute of Business and Technical Education Mengo where 1379 students were awarded Diploma and certificates in various disciplines.
“It’s time to stop this common talk towards graduates to start their own businesses after school because it has led many starting business to collapse due to lack of enough experience of their innovators” Mayiga revealed.
“The world bank report shows that Uganda is one of the developing countries where new business at individual basis are started but don’t last for over 5 years because their proprietor lack experience but this should be avoided to surface any more in Uganda” Mayiga adds.
However, he further advised graduates to be ready for challenges faced after school, to be patient and trustworthy when they acquire jobs .
On the same ceremony Mayiga has launched the 25 years Silver jubilee of Buganda Royal institute of Business and Technical Education and thanked the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II visionary idea to start up the institute which has contributed to the development of Buganda and Uganda at large.
George Nyombi Thembo the Director, Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has lauded Buganda kingdom for the efforts to educate Ugandan children through technical studies ,
“Already government has released over ugx 500 towards technical studies in central region which also shows that Uganda minds about the future and Uganda as well as fighting youth unemployment'” Nyombi ended
The 18th graduation 491 students awarded Diploma (231 Female,260 Male) ,732 received certificates (394 Female,338 Male) and 156 got Non formal (DIT) Female 48 and 108 Male.
