Police in Namayingo district is detaining a father on allegations of torture of his 6-year-old son whom he tied with ropes in a frog stretching pose and beat him mercilessly.
SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson has identified the suspect as Okato Johnson Lwapando, a Kenyan national and resident of Butihandi village in Namayingo district.
According to Enanga, the suspect was captured on camera torturing his six-year-old son and the disheartening and disturbing images were virally shared on social media leading to arrests.
“The images showed the suspect having tied both the hands and legs of the six-year-old son using four ropes and tied them against two trees and started torturing him as a form of punishment,” Enanga said.
A case of child torture was first reported to police by the the area LC1 chairman after getting information about the incident.

Police recovered broken sticks, a panga and two ropes from the scene which had been used by the suspect to torture the boy.
“We strongly condemn such acts of torture as a form of punishment used by some parents. This is torture and punishable. We encourage parents to use holistic ways to punish or tame their children.” Enanga said
Okato is currently under detention on charges of aggravated torture of child while the victim is receiving treatment at Okiring clinic at Mukolobi trading centre in Namayingo district.
