BUSHENYI
A Nigerian female student at Kampala International University (KIU) Western Campus was raped during a violent break-in at her rented residence in Katungu Cell, Ishaka Division, on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred at around 4:20am when unidentified assailants armed with a knife broke into the victim’s room and allegedly raped her before stealing her Samsung A16 mobile phone.
The victim, whose identity has been withheld for privacy reasons, is a second year law student, she was later taken to Bushenyi Police Health Centre II, where she received post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police confirmed.

“Unknown people armed with a knife broke into the victim’s room, allegedly raped her, and stole her mobile phone,” said SP Apollo Tayebwa, the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police spokesperson.
Police have launched investigations into the case and are working to identify and arrest the suspects.
“We appeal to the general public to covertly volunteer any information that may assist in the ongoing investigation so that justice can be served,” SP Tayebwa said.
No arrests had been made by press time.
