“I am impressed by the level of innovation displayed here. Our higher education institutions play a crucial role in driving economic growth and development. AI is no longer a luxury but a necessity in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world. Institutions must embrace AI to ensure students remain competitive in the global job market,” Tayebwa emphasized.

Kampala International University (KIU) was among the standout exhibitors, presenting cutting-edge AI-driven projects, including a rescue robot, a smart bin, and self-help AI tools designed to enhance education and everyday life. The university’s exhibition demonstrated its commitment to technological advancement and academic excellence.

Assoc. Prof. Eric Mabonga, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Western Campus) of KIU, reaffirmed the university’s dedication to innovation.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports, who emphasized the need for institutions to adapt to AI-driven learning methodologies.

“We must use AI to enhance education, improve teaching methods, and better prepare students for the future,” she stated.

Dr. Turyagyenda also urged young learners to develop both hard and soft skills, cautioning against relying solely on AI as a shortcut.

KIU was recognized among the top seven exhibitors, further cementing its position as a leader in innovation and excellence. Mountains of the Moon University was named the overall outstanding exhibitor.
