Lira city Mayor, Sam Atul has accused government of frustrating development in in the area.

Atul was speaking at a meeting organized by minister of gender, labour and social development Betty Amongi Akena on the parish development model at Lira city community hall.

He said Lira city remits a lot of revenue to government and it is disappointing that government has failed to support its development.

He cited the construction of Lira-Kamdini road that is deplorable state noting that government is relaxed on infrastructure development in the Northern region.

Lira district woman MP Linda Agnes Auma said the contractor of Lira-Kamdini road had informed them that there were some issues causing delays in rehabilitating this road, while the construction of Rwekunye to Lira road has been delayed by contestation over Ibuje rock.

Speaking during the meeting, Minister Amongi explained that the parish development model-PDM is meant to kick start on 19th January 2022.

She unveiled different programs that ministry plans to undertake and also train stakeholders on the parish development model.

Amongi distributed to the district chairpersons at the meeting two books that were given by president Museveni titled: Four sectors, seven ways of job and wealth creation, to support in development well as addressing socio-economic and wealth creation program.
