Lira City Principal Education Officer, Jasper Abura has been announced dead following Friday’s early morning car crash.
According to reports, Dr. Abura was returning from Kampala when a car in which he was travelling got a head on collision with another an unidentified truck at Adwilla village, Amak sub-county, along Lira-Soroti highway, at around 1am.
Two occupants of Dr. Abura’s vehicle including, Emmanuel Komakech, Town Clerk of Lira City West Division and Jacob Okello, driver sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for medication.
The North Kyoga region police spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema said that Dr. Abura died on the spot.
Body was taken to Lira hospital for a postmortem and the car was towed to police for inspection.
Okema said police inquiries are ongoing to ascertain the cause of this accident and identify particulars of the driver of the an unidentified vehicle in the accident.
