The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Ben Kumumanya, has directed Local Government Engineers across the country to properly document all infrastructure works within their jurisdictions.
Speaking at a meeting of District, City, and Municipal Engineers held at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, Kumumanya emphasized the need for a comprehensive inventory of all roads. He noted that the reports must clearly indicate the parishes served in line with the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the respective subcounties.
The Permanent Secretary further urged engineers to work closely with District and City Resident Commissioners to strengthen accountability and ensure transparency in the management of public infrastructure.
In his remarks, Kumumanya also encouraged those serving in acting capacities to apply for the 22 positions of Local Government Engineers currently advertised in various districts and cities. He stressed that filling these vacancies would enhance service delivery and improve oversight of infrastructure projects.
The meeting brought together engineers from across the country to deliberate on strategies for improving documentation, accountability, and coordination in the implementation of local government infrastructure projects.
