Uganda premier League giants Lugazi FC has completed the signing of Defender Othieno Joseph from Moso Sugar Fc in Burundi on a three year contract.
The centre back becomes Lugazi’s third signing of the January transfer window following the earlier acquisition of Hussein Ssenoga and Shafiq Avemah.
“I was born and grew up in Lugazi. I think it is the right time to come back home and pick up myself. I believe if one works hard, he achieves and I am here to exactly do that,” Othieno said after signing for the Leaders.
Joseph began his career at Lugazi Young Academy before he joined Villa Jogo Young in his early playing days.He won the Copa Coca Cola football championship with Buddo Secondary School in 2009, and captained Buwekula to the final of the Buganda Masaza Cup in 2012.
Othieno previously played for Kira Young in 2013, SC Victoria University 2014/15, UPDF FC in 2015-2018 and Ndejje University in 2021all in his native country Uganda.
He had a short spell at Musongati FC of Burundi before switching allegiance to Buja City between 2022 and 2023.
In 2024, he signed for Moso Sugar, where he played in the Burundi Primus League until today, when he signed for the Leaders.
