This followed the Electoral Commission approval of PFF registration after a heated contestation over proposed name, colors and symbols by other sister parties including their former party FDC, and PPF (People Power Front).

Speaking at the launch of the exercise, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, also the groups interim president said the Electoral Commission already notified security authorities in districts about the party’s move to collect signatures. He emphasised that the exercise is legally sanctioned and they don’t expect interference by police.

“We expect no interruption from any security agency, including police officers, RDCs, and other members of the security network,” he declared.

He said the PFF’s mission is to collaborate with other groups to advance national liberation, not to compete within the political space.

“We are not here to compete for political space or power. We want to connect with other forces of change to liberate the country,” he said, inviting Ugandans to join the movement.

He described the PFF as a coalition of various political, civil society, and pressure groups united for peace and development.

Meanwhile, the Forum for Democratic Change main party said on Monday that they have no disputation to the registration of PFF

“About contention regarding the colours for FDC and PFF, we leave that to the electoral commission to do its work,” said Walid Mulindwa Lubega, FDC’s Deputy Secretary for Publicity in charge of publication and documentation.

He clarified that the party won’t contest the registration of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), mirroring their stance on the Uganda Federal Alliance (UFA) by Betty Kamya and Alliance for National Transition (ANT) by Rtd Gen. Mugisha Muntu Greg, both former FDC members.
