The National Coordinator of the Transformer Cadres Association Uganda (TCAU) and former Ntungamo municipality MP aspirant, Moses Magufuri has succeeded in the fight to recover the money which was illegitimately swindled by the association president, Felix Adupa  Ongwech.

At the beginning of this year, Adupa was labelled greedy and selfish by a section of the TCAU members ring-led by Magufuri after he was accused of failing to account for over Sh4 millions funds belonging to the association.

In May, he was arrested after he failed to show up to respond to summons at OC/ CID at Wandegeya police station.

ASP Herbert Rugubwa, the OC Wandegeya Police station told reports that Adupa was arrested at Nikan Hotel, Sseguku Kajjansi where he had taken refugee as pressures to recover the money by members amounted. He was detained and later released on police bond.

Insiders at TCAU intimidated to PARROTS UG that the members, 58 in numbers had been contributing money to be saved on Transformer Cadres Cooperatives Society Limited (TCAU SACCO) UBA SACCO account: 1664000030 controlled by Adupa, and two other signatories; Kyambadde Baker and Geoffrey Mugweri, the association treasurer. However, the members became suspicious after they asked for transactions statements from the bank but Adupa could not account for the funds. This prompted members to rage war against Adupa and his group.

Mr. Magufuri Moses, former MP aspirant Ntungamo Municipality and National Cordinator of the Transformer Cadres Association Uganda. Magufuri has been accusing TCAU president Felix O Adupa of failing to learn how to deligate, respect his fellow him and other members of the association.

Adupa, who is also a former member of parliament for Kioga county , Amolatar district has been trying to find ways to wriggle out of paying in vain until yesterday, Tuesday 30th August, 2022 when he coughed up the money.

In one of the many magnificently unironic moments that have marked this delightful move, Adupa refunded shillings 4.1m to the association members and the money was transferred to Transformer Cadres Cooperatives Society Limited (TCAU SACCO) new account in Equity Bank on bank account no: 1036202327076. The money according to a bank statement seen by PARROTS UG was deposited by Geoffrey Mugweri at Equity Bank, Oasis mall branch.

The cash transfer ceremony was at Sheraton Hotel Kampala. Faridah Nakalawa, the vice president of TCAU ,Rtd Major Mugweri, Treasurer TCAU and Sacco’s treasurer Hon. Jolly Kabaganda witnessed the cash transfer.

Speaking to Parrots UG, Magufuri who was full of beans said that the members are ready to work towards TCAU objectives and goals now that the mess has been cleaned. He emphasized that acts of financial misbehaviour will not be tolerated in the association.
