The Anticorruption court in Kololo has disqualified the former Deputy Academic Registrar of Makerere University; Etuusa Margaret Loy Lubega from holding public office for 10 years after being found guilty of Abuse of Office.
The prosecution proved that Etuusa irregularly procured service providers for the 67th graduation ceremony of the University, in total disregard of the procurement laws, regulations and procedures.
Justice Margret Tubulya, who presided over the case, has also ordered the convict to pay a Court fine of UGX 4 Million or in default, serve 2yrs imprisonment.
Etuusa irregularly procured companies and people to provide different services for the said graduation ceremony, such as phone keeping, drinks, food, and flower vending without following proper procurement procedures.
Justice Tubulya ruled that she fully agrees with the prosecution that Etuusa’s actions were prejudicial to the interests of her employer.
