Police in Fort Portal are investigating circumstances under which a man gruesomely chopped his wife’s legs.
The suspect is Kenneth Happy, a resident of Bukwali B, Bukwali ward central division in Fort Portal City.
It is alleged that on the night of Tuesday September 21, Kenneth cut the legs of his wife a one Grace Kabaalisa after they developed a quarrel. One leg was completely cut off while the other was left hanging on a strand of tissue.
Locals hurriedly arrested the suspect (Kenneth) beaten him unconsciously but was rescued by the area Local Council 1 Chairperson, Bernard Kandole who handed him over to police.
The Fort Portal Central Police Station community liaison officer, Patrick Muhenda has said that both victims, one of domestic violence (wife) and another of mob justice (husband) are currently receiving treatment at Fort Portal regional referral hospital.
He added that the suspect will after medical treatment be arrested and charged according to the laws.
Muhenda said police investigation into the matter are ongoing and appealed to the locals to desist from domestic violence and use local authorities and police to settle their family affairs.
