The Lake Bunyonyi marine detach police have registered a death by drowning incident of a 20 years old Gerivaz Nuwagaba a worker at Paradise Eco Hub Hotel on one of the Lake Bunyonyi islands and resident of Kabumba cell Bukora parish Kitumba sub county Kabale district.
It’s alleged that, on the 30th March, 2023 at at 22:00hrs, Gerivaz went to the manager and demanded his pay so that he could buy alcohol which his manager didn’t decline.
One hour later after paying him, he went back with leading waragi and later disappeared.
The next morning of 31st March, 2023, they went to his room to wake him up for work but he was no where to be seen, but they found his phone and a jacket in a canoe hanging on water.
It’s today morning, that his body was sighted floating on water and was reported by the manager one Silas Byamugisha, the body was retrieved at around noon by the marine personnel and handed over to relatives.
The case was recorded under reference number SD:03/01/04/2023. ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi police PRO has condemned this and i reminded people to desist from doing any activity on water once they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs which endangers their lives.
