Unidentified suspects killed a man and dumped his body in a swamp in Kabale district on Thursday.
The body, whose identity remains unknown, was discovered by a young boy herding animals near Rwakihiirwa cell, along Katuna Road, at around 5 p.m.
Kigezi region police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, said that the police were alerted by the local area chairperson, Abraham Nuwagaba, but were unable to immediately identify the deceased.
“The body was retrieved, showing scratches on the face, and was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem. Efforts to identify the individual are ongoing,” Maate stated.
He urged anyone with information about a missing person to check the hospital mortuary, so the body can be identified and given a proper burial. Maate said police are actively investigating the case in an effort to apprehend the suspects.
A murder case has been opened at Kamuganguzi Police Station under CRB 762/2024.
