Police in Rubirizi district have launched a manhunt for a man who attacked and stabbed his sister in-law, leaving her with severe injuries.
The incident happened on Sunday 1st September, 2024, in Kigezi village, Ndekye – Bunyaruguru, Rubirizi district at 6pm.

The suspect as Francis Sebayinda, a resident of the same address. He allegedly attacked and stabbed his sister in-law, Anitah Ainomugisha, a resident of Kikuba village, Kabeti ward , Rubirizi who he cut on the neck, head and in the back using a sharp panga.
According to the eye witness Mr Kizito, Francis, the victim was at her in-law home to help her mother in-law in harvesting coffee when the suspect attacked her. Kizito explained that the suspect after cutting Ainomugisha, attempted to cut the mother the neighbors immediately intervened.
Further preliminary reports indicate that the suspect had previously sold off his land and misused the money something that could have prompted his change in behavior.
“He sold his share of family land last month and wasted money and now he wanted to sell more land, ” Mr. Kizito said. ” With the frustration of being stopped, he acted with anger and acted the way he did.”
SSP Martial Tumusiime, Greater Bushenyi Region Police Spokesperson said the suspect fled the scene after committing this stressful act. He noted that efforts to apprehend him are underway.

The scene of crime was visited by a team of detectives, registered the crime on number RBZ CRB 356/2024, recorded statements from neighbors and eye witness. Suspect ran away and the process of apprehending him is on,” said SSP Tumusiime.
The victim was rushed to KIU hospital in Ishaka in a critical condition.
