MBARARA
The case involves a 22-year-old male resident of Kisenyi cell, Kakoba ward, who was lured with the promise of a job by a male adult businessman named Tumushabe Nelson.
It is reported that on October 9th, the victim was in search of a job when he met Tumushabe Nelson at Mile 2 on Masaka Road. The suspect, who pretended to be friendly, asked the victim what he was doing in Mbarara City. When the victim revealed that he was looking for a job, Tumushabe promised to offer him one.
Tumushabe then took the victim to his home, which is located in the same area, in the night of October 10th. However, instead of providing the promised job, he threatened the victim and forcefully sodomised him.
The next morning, Tumushabe took the victim for breakfast and then proceeded to Mbarara Central Market where he works.There, he informed the victim that he would not be able to hire him since he did not have a national identity card.
The victim reported the matter to police, who immediately took him for a medical examination.
It was discovered that the victim had been inflamed and sodomized. This led to the arrest of Tumushabe Nelson.
The police task force was deployed, and they recovered several tangible exhibits which included 22 personal lubricants, 52 pieces of condoms, 19 strips of HIV testing kits and 2 tins of ARVs.
The inquiries into the matter are still ongoing and the suspect is currently in police custody.
SP Kasasira Samson said that police can takes matters of sodomy and human trafficking very serious and are doing everything in their power to ensure that justice is served.
The victim is reportedly receiving medical support and counselling services from providers of support to survivors of sexual violence.
