Despite several calls from different stakeholders to entirely make Uganda Police Force a pro-people institution, President Museveni has once again declined to the calls, appointing another army officer to lead in the UPF’s top positions.
Latest on Parrots UG indicate that President Museveni has appointed Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi the Deputy Inspector General of Police to deputise IGP Martin Okoth Ochola.
Maj. Gen. Katsigazi replaces Lt Gen Paul Lokech who died on August 21, 2021.
This has been confirmed by the police spokesperson, CP Fred Enanga on Twitter.
The President has further renewed the contract of the Commissioner General of Prisons, Canon Dr Johnson Byabashaija.
Byabashaija’s contract renewal comes barely a day after he promoted and redsignated some officers with in Uganda Prisons Services.
