Latest from the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) indicates that the ministry is still in consultations with Education Stakeholders on the reopening of schools and other Education institutions across the country.
According to a May29th statement issued by the Uganda Media Centre on the phased reopening of education institutions, MoES said that its at the final stages of consultative processes on the reopening if schoools and other education institutions.
According to the ministry, its still compiling the feedback obtained from last week’s consultations and would issue a final statement when all feedback is consolidated.
Alex Kakooza, the ministry PS had earlier stated that ministry was supposed to hold a press conference on guidelines regarding the reopening of schools within this week.
However, this according to a document by UMC failed after ministry extended the press conference to unknown dates due to what is preferred to as emergency issues which require discussions with multi stakeholders to reach a final conclusion.
Ministry further stated that it would issue out a final statement immediately when the consultative processes are done.
Its unclear if the consultations would affect the reopening of schools for candidate & finalist classes in schools and other education institutions.
President Museveni recently eased in the lockdown for schools and education institutions only for candidate classes and finalists respectively directing them to open on June 5th.
Schools are still stranded since they have not received any reopening guidelines from the ministry.
