At least 2,250 students are expected to graduate today at Kampala International University in the University’s 22nd graduation ceremony.
Today’s virtual graduation ceremony first of its kind in the university’s history is scheduled to take place at the main campus Kansanga at 1:30PM.
The graduation ceremony which was supposed to be held in June this year was postponed to today as soon as covid-19 pandemic rocked up the world leaving out most businesses closed down and education institutions not spared.
Due to the precedents of the COVID-19 and the need to observe and maintain the health Standards Operation Procedures (SOPs) as required by health experts, the university management decided to virtually hold the 22nd graduation ceremony.
According to a statement by the university, the event will be televised on Vision Group’s Urban TV, streamlined via University digital platforms such as Facebook: Kampala International University, Twitter: @kiuvarsity, YouTube and the University website: www.kiu.ac.ug .
Graduands will be awarded Certificates, Diploma, Degrees, Masters and PhDs in various disciplines.
Furthermore, the University’s new Chancellor Prof Mahmood Mamdani will confer his first awards to KIU graduands.

In order to contain the spread of corona virus, graduands, parents and guardians were asked to stay home and follow the events online. The university says only few guests ‘on invitations’ are expected to attend the ceremony.
