Morocco’s new COVID-19 cases upsurges as country’s Health ministry reports 1,283 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.
According to a ministerial statement, the total number of confirmed cases in Morocco now stands at 28,500.
By Wednesday Aug5 at 6PM, active COVID-19 cases were: 8,071 cases.
The new case count marks the highest number of COVID-19 cases Morocco’s health authorities have ever recorded in one day.
The ministry further noted that 91% of the new cases resulted from monitoring people who made contact with confirmed COVID-19 carriers.
The number of recoveries also increased to an additional 365 in the past 24 hours. The total number of recovered patients now stands at 19,994. The North Africa country has a recovery rate of 70.2%, the ministry announced.
Meanwhile, other 28 fatalities were recorded 18 bringing the total number of COVID-19 death toll to 435. Morocco has a COVID-19 mortality rate of 1.53%.
