One person has been confirmed dead following Sunday evening single fatal accident along the Kabale-Kisoro road in Rubanda district. The accident ccurred on August 25, 2024, at approximately 10:15 PM.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson identified the deceased as Mbabazi Wensislus, a bodaboda rider and resident of Rutoga cell, Nyarurambi Ward, Rubanda town council, Rubanda.
Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased who was riding on a bottleneck speed lost control and veered off the road and fell into a trench, resulting in fatal head injuries.
Traffic police from Rubanda visited and documented the scene of the accident. The motorcycle, Bajaj boxer red in colour Reg. no. UEU 931B was impounded.
“A post-mortem examination was conducted, and the body was handed over to the relatives,” Maate said.
According to the police report, the primary cause of the accident was attributed to over speeding.
Police warned motorists and other road users against reckless driving and to comply to traffic guidelines whenever on the road.
