Mathias Mpuuga’s Democratic Alliance pressure group has launched a new political party called the Democratic Front (DF), which will compete in the 2026 general elections.

This comes after the Uganda’s Electoral Commission (EC) officially cleared a new political party, the Democratic Front (DF),
Mpuuga, who is also MP for Nyendo-Mukungwe in Masaka District, announced Tuesday, May 27, via his official X (Twitter) account, declaring the Democratic Front as a platform for “logical thinkers, progressive minds, and those who believe in political ethics and disciplined service delivery.”
The Democratic Front’s slogan is “Real Change, Act Now,” and the party aims to bring about meaningful transformation in Uganda’s political landscape.
According to Mpuuga, the decision to start the new party was made to provide a platform for Democratic Alliance members to gain political experience and build a strong foundation for their political careers .
Mpuuga emphasized that the party is open to working with other political parties to achieve political change in Uganda.
“The party’s focus is on attracting logical thinkers, progressive minds, and individuals who believe in political ethics and disciplined service delivery” Mpuga disclosed,
He noted that there is a large pool of Ugandan voters who do not belong to any party, and the Democratic Front sees an opportunity to draw from this group.
