The National Resistance Movement (NRM) regional coordinator for Western Uganda, Zephline Muhangi has dismissed with contempt speculations that there are firestorm conflicts in their party.
Appearing on Sky Television Mbarara on Monday, the Western Region coordinator said that allegations of internal conflicts caused by the emergency of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) are baseless speculations.
“PLU is a civic organization formed within the party, comprising mostly NRM members, there aren’t reports of conflicting members within the NRM” he said.
According to Muhangi, the NRM is largely capable of managing internal conflicts, citing its status as a mass party. He praised NRM’s achievements, manifesto, and plans for service delivery, showcasing his appreciation for the party’s efforts.
On the other hand, Muhangi denied that the proposed formation of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) by the Forum for Democratic Change breakaway in Katonga is a collaboration with the ruling NRM. He emphasized the importance of unity and dialogue among parties, as per IPOD (Inter-Party Organization for Dialogue) Act, which he says will foster democratic principles in the country.
On the ongoing regional parliamentary sittings, the NRM western region coordinator said the sittings are a rare opportunity for local people to engage directly with the government to address concerns for improved service delivery. Muhangi however, disagreed with the Leader of Opposition, Rt. Hon. Joel Senyonyi’s decision to boycott the regional parliamentary sittings, suggesting that he requires further orientation on parliamentary business.
Besides, Muhangi commended President Museveni for initiating the school feeding program in Karamoja, which he believes will help children to stay in school, reduce on dropouts, and increase on learner’s academic performance.
