JINJA:

The State Minister For Fisheries Hellen Adoa and her team have noted that mukene stocks are declining on lake Victoria.
The minister made these remarks during her visit to the National Fisheries Research Institute in Jinja yesterday.
“The major cause for the decline in Mukene stocks is illegal fishing which we are ably dealing with with support from the Fisheries Protection Unit,” She said.
Adoa believes that the scientists have a major role to play in as far as sustaining and improving fish stocks in lakes is concerned.
Mukene also known as the Lake Victoria sardine is known for various nutritious values since they are rich with Vitamin A and Omega fatty acids.
During her visit, the minister was accompanied by director of Fisheries Resources Joyce Nyeko.
