President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa is set to address the house of parliament next week on Thursday.
This has been disclosed by the speaker of parliament Anitah Amongi in her opening remarks during the Thursday’s plenary.
“The President, H E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be coming on Thursday 16th March 2023 to address the House on Matters of National Importance,” Speaker Among informed the house
She has urged the members to be present on that day.
Article 101(2) of the constitution on Presidential addresses provides that; “The President may, also, in consultation with the Speaker, address Parliament from time to time, on any matter of national importance.”
The address comes at a time when parliament is faced with four pressing debatable issues such as the NSSF Probe Report, Karamoja Mabaati saga, Anti -Homosexuality Bill and the pending censure of minister Persis Namuganza. It’s however, still unclear if the address will be focused on any of the aforementioned Key areas.
