State Minister for Higher Education, John Chrysestom Muyingo, has assured the nation that all national examinations will be conducted and completed without any interference.
On Monday, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) commenced the first series of the three national examination cycles, with a total of 432,159 candidates registered to sit for this year’s Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams. Of these, 52.7 percent are female, while 47.3 percent are male.
Speaking to journalists at the Uganda Media Centre, Minister Muyingo said the exams had begun successfully and that the government was committed to ensuring their smooth completion.
“I would like to assure the nation that all the planned end-of-cycle national examinations; PLE, UCE, and, UACE will take place as scheduled,” Muyingo said.
The minister also urged parents, guardians, and school administrators to provide a conducive environment for learners during this examination period, warning that the ministry would not tolerate any form of interference.
“This is a critical time for all learners, especially those sitting for end-of-cycle national examinations. Everyone must support them to ensure they perform to their best,” he emphasized.
Muyingo further appealed to striking arts teachers to return to class, noting that government remains committed to addressing their salary concerns.

“I appeal to those teachers who are still on industrial action to resume duty and continue teaching. The government is committed to enhancing teachers’ remuneration in a phased manner, beginning with the 2026–2027 financial year, as directed by the President,” he said.
The minister also pledged to follow up on reports of schools and examination centre heads allegedly blocking candidates from sitting for their exams over unpaid fees.
