MBARARA

Hon. Francis Mwijukye, the Member of Parliament for Buhweju County and a leading figure in the People’s Front for Transition (PFF), has urged Ugandans to vote for leaders who are not afraid to speak the truth, especially during times when many remain silent on pressing national issues.

“Vote for leaders who are not afraid to speak the truth, so that when others remain silent, they can rise up, take the lead, and speak out on the real issues affecting Ugandans,” Mwijukye said.

He made the remarks during a live political talk show – Manya Ebirikufa Omwihanga on Radio West in Mbarara City on Sunday.

Citing the recent Electronic Payment System (EPS) controversy, Mwijukye recalled how public outrage and political dissent played a significant role in influencing the President’s decision to suspend the system.

“Ugandans spoke out. Some leaders stood up, and drivers parked their vehicles. That collective voice forced the President to act,” Mwijukye said.

According to Mwijukye, electing leaders who are not timid, can push for meaningful and desirable change of government in Uganda.

The EPS saga sparked widespread criticism, particularly from the public and opposition politicians who claimed the system was exploitative and poorly implemented.

Mwijukye’s remarks come amid growing calls for political accountability and leadership rooted in integrity, especially as the country gears up for upcoming 2026 general election.
