Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, has pledged to increase funding for disaster preparedness to help mitigate the effects of floods and mudslides in the Rwenzori region.
While campaigning in Kasese and Bunyangabu districts on Sunday, Nandala said the region continues to suffer from recurring floods and mudslides, especially along River Nyamwamba, which have claimed lives, destroyed crops, and caused extensive property damage over the years. He proposed for proper disaster management plans to mitigate disaster challenges in Uganda.

He assured residents that, if elected president, his government would prioritize improved service delivery, including fully stocked health facilities, better road infrastructure, and reduced electricity tariffs and taxes.
Nandala added that such initiatives are achievable through the revival of cooperative societies and recovery of public funds lost to corruption, which he said has crippled service delivery under the current leadership.
