The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) together with the Ministry of Education and Sports launched a mass registration exercise in which they will register all learners in primary schools in Bunyoro region.
This will take place during the Music Dance and Drama competition at Duhanga Secondary School in Hoima between 28th August – 03th September, 2023.
Osborn Mushabe, Manager Public Relations and Corporate Affairs at NIRA says the three day event is aimed at gearing up National identity card registration through competition.
“We are aiming to highlight the huge benefits that NIN registration of children holds, parents and Guardians. A NIN is the main conduct for accessing government services,” he said
Mushabe noted that regional competitions were held across 13 regions in the country and 12 schools from from each region are proceeding to the National finals to represent the region and also seek to emerge at the 2023 Champions of the National primary school’s MDD final.
“Through the event, there shall be registration and issuance of national identity numbers to children,” he explained .
He urged parents and guardians to carry with themselves copies of their National IDs to ensure that their children are registered and issued with an instant NIN.
