The Jinja Regional Police Commander, SSP Hiriga Dawuda, has emphasised that Boda Boda riders will not be allowed to cross the Old Nalubaale bridge that borders Buikwe and Jinja districts.
Hiriga was hosted on a radio talk show “Ensi N’ebyayo” on 89.4FM NBS radio in Jinja where he stressed that the the bridge is now a no go area as police is enforcing presidential directives on interdistrict travel ban.
The said bridge conntects from Njeru in Buikwe to Jinja city.
“Boda Bodas carrying any luggage from Njeru will not be permitted to cross from one district to another for this case coming to Jinja,” he said.
He however clarified that a few selected groups of people; essential workers as they are referred to including Sick patients, doctors, nurses, News reporters to mention but a few are permitted to move on bodabodas.
The remarks follow incidents where a number of traders working in Jinja but staying in Njeru (and vice versa) have been deniedaccess to either sides.
