As hundreds of youthful Ugandans rush to apply for warder and war dress positions in Uganda Prison Services, prison officials have have warned applicants against possible recruitment scams.

Frank Baine, the Prisons spokesperson says some people may demand money from applicants in exchange for job placements. He said that the recruitment process is completely free, cautioning applicants to stay alert and report any cases of extortion.

On Friday, UPS announced recruitment for 402 warders and wardress positions . However, in many cases, reports of unscrupulous individuals posing as different government ministries, departments and agencies’ officials promising applicants guaranteed selection in exchange for bribes have emerged in the media.

Baine warned that applicants against falling victims of these fraudulent scams noting that government jobs are meant for Ugandans and are free.

“We want to make it clear that no applicant should pay money to anyone at any stage of the recruitment. All processes, including application submission and interviews, are conducted at no cost,” Baine stated.

He was addressing journalists at the joint security press conference at police headquarters Naguru on Monday.
