The ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) has said that no student will be allowed to report to school earlier than January 10, 2022 as announced by President Museveni on reopening of schools.
The remarks have been made by the ministry of education Permanent Secretary Ms Ketty Lamaro, while releasing a schedule for the staggared reporting of learners in boarding schools in Kampala, Mukono, Mpigi, Wakiso Districts.
It should be recalled that on December 31, while delivering a New Year Message, President Museveni reopened schools effective January 10 but ordered that MoES release a systematic schedule for the staggared reopening of schools in Kampala and Metropolitan districts.
In a statement dated January 2 shared to Parrots UG, MoES in conjuction with Kampala Capital City Authority – KCCA, ministry of works and Transport, Wakiso Mpigi Kampala Mukono Districts Local Government and ministry of internal affairs suggested for a staggered reporting for boarding students in primary and secondary schools in the aforementioned districts.
According to the schedule, all learners in day schools shall report on Monday January 10, 2022 for classes while those in boardin schools shall follow a staggared reporting effective January 10.
Boarding students have according to the schedule been disallowed to report to school before the official dates announced for reopening of schools. Day and Boarding students in International schools have also been asked to comply to this directive.
A’level and Lower primary Boarding learners in Mpigi and Wakiso have been asked to report January 10, whereas those in O’level (S.1-S.4) and pupils in P.5, P.6 & P.7 shall report on January 12 respectively
Boarding Students in Kampala and Mukono districts at A’level (S.5 & S.6) and pupils in lower primary will report on January 11 while O’level (S.1-S.4) and pupils in P.5, P.6 & P.7 will report on January 13, respectively.
However, schools which have already communicated to parents a staggared reporting plan that goes beyond January 13, 2022 have been asked to retain such a plan provided no learners report before January 10.
