The leading opposition political party in Uganda, the National Unity Platform (NUP), under the stewardship of musician-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Bobi Wine), has called for applications from qualified party members who wish to contest on the NUP ticket in the upcoming 2026 general elections. Interested members are invited to submit their expressions of interest from June 1-23 June 2025, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m-5:00 p.m.
According to a statement from Chemutai Harriet, Chairperson of the Party’s Election Management Committee, the positions available include Members of Parliament (across all categories), District Chairpersons, Mayors, Chairpersons of local governments, and Councilors at all levels.

Applicants are required to complete a one-page Expression of Interest form, which can be downloaded from the party’s official website, or collected from constituency registrars, the party headquarters, or sub-regional offices. In addition to the form, applicants must submit a copy of their national identity card, party membership card, and certified copies of their academic qualifications.
While all applicants are encouraged to submit their academic documents, this requirement is mandatory only for those seeking to run for Member of Parliament, District (LC5) Chairperson, and City Mayor positions.
Chemutai also clarified the submission process, stating that individuals applying for positions such as Member of Parliament, District Chairperson, City and KCCA Division Mayor, KCCA Councilor (LC3 and LC5), and Wakiso District Councilor must submit their applications directly to the party headquarters in Makerere-Kavule, Kampala. All other applicants may submit their forms to constituency registrars or sub-regional offices located in various regions across the country, including Gulu, Arua, Lira, Hoima, Fort Portal, and Luwero.
Additionally, Chemutai informed party members interested in running for the presidency under the NUP banner that a separate announcement regarding that process will be made at a later date.
