The DPP Jane Frances Abodo has sanctioned charges of terrorism and murder against four key suspects that were involved in the killing of the late Joan Kagezi in 2015. Kagezi was a senior assistant DPP in charge of international crimes department in the office of the Directorate of public prosecutions.
The key suspects are John Kibuuka, John Massajjage, Dan Kisekka and Nasur Abdalah.
Abodo revealed that the four suspects will be aligned before before court to be tried for murder that has been unresolved since 30th March 2015.
In December, 2022, a prosecution guided investigation was directed by the DPP to establish facts that surrounded the case. As a result, a joint team led by the criminal investigations Directorate(CID) of the Uganda police force comprised of CT and ISO embarked on the task.
Arising out of the long investigations, the team has established the facts surrounding the murder of Joan Kagezi and the ODPP being satisfied with the outcome is ready to prosecute the suspects in the Uganda courts of law.
Although the investigations may take long, in some cases, the ODPP remains committed to ensuring that those suspects are prosecuted in the interest of justice for a crime free society, said Abodo.
