The government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has dismissed reports of the arrest of his official at the Uganda Media Centre, Obed Katureebe.
Reports have been circulating on social media indicating that Katureebe was on Sunday at around 3:00pm kidnapped by corps from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) from his home in Kisaasi Kampala.
However, in a Twitter post, Ofwono has revealed that Obed is not under arrest but under security protection due to threats allegedly against his personal details.
The Rwandan govt has tasked the Ugandan govt to deal with some individuals whom they accuse of spreading hateful propaganda.
Among those who have been pointed at has been Katureebe who has however defended himself several times against such claims.
Following his arrest, a one RPF Gakwerere issued a notice claiming that he is the person they are targeting to arrest, demanding that Katurebe be released.
