As we mourn and celebrate Atat, our message to Uganda and the current regime is a call for respect towards her by upholding Human Rights.
Speaking at a burial ceremony, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) which the deceased subscribed, Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat said the late legislator was a peace making politician challenging the ruling government (NRM) to honor her contributions towards peace building by giving a conducive environment for a peaceful free and fair by-election to fill her position.
“I want to warn the NRM: Atat was a proponent of peace. Please refrain from the use of violence during the Dokolo District by-election to fill her position,” Hon. Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat warned.
He said the late Cecilia Ogwal was an incorruptible figure and challenged individuals occupying public offices and those in government to desist from all forms of corruption.
“The message we have for those who dip their hands in public coffers is that your time is almost up. She (Hon. Cecilia Ogwal) stood for leadership and was a unifying figure,” said Amuriat.
