Police in Ntungamo district is holding a suspect on allegations of assaulting his brother to death.
The suspect is Velnario Mutatina, 30, a resident of Rukanga village Nyabihoko sub county Kajara county in Ntungamo district.
It is alleged that on Wednesday, Mutatina using a sharp knife stabbed his brother Abias Tashobya in the chest several times causing to his death. He (Tashobya) died moments later as he was being rushed to a nearby clinic in Rwashamaire Town council.
It is alleged that the suspect has had a longstanding land wrangle with his family and one of his brothers identified as Rogers Tibemanya, disclosed that before stabbing the deceased, he (Mutatina) first attempted to fight his mother and Tashobya intervened to calm the situation.
Tibemanya accuses his brother Mutatina of being a drug addict known for smoking marijuana and alcohol.
Warren Byereta, the Officer In charge of Rwashamaire Police post has told reports that the suspect is already in police custody at Rwashamire police post on charges of murder.
