KAMPALA:
Police has arrested over 200 revellers after raiding a number of bars last night.
The suspects were found boozing in bars located the townships of Busega, Lugogo, Wandegeya, Bukoto and Kira in Wakiso and Kampala districts.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the drinking joints were flouting Ministry of Health guidelines on coronavirus.
“More than 200 suspects were arrested from Cayene Bar in Bukoto, New Best Hotel in Busega, bars around Lugogo and DV8 in Wandegeya. It should be noted that operating bars is still against the guidelines that were issued by the Ministry of Health,”
Owoyesigyire said none of the arrested is going to get police bond.
He added that some of these drinking joints were operating normally and some revellers even had the nerve to post themselves on social media having fun.
